Our flight to India was very long. We had 2 stops on the way. The first was in Taipei, Taiwan for a few hours and the second was in Kuala Lumpur for more than 8 hours. Since we had so much time and since we were there in the daytime, we decided to pass through immigration and visit the city. We took a taxi to the city center to check out the world's tallest twin towers - Petronas Towers.
We walked around the towers quite a bit, and through the mall at the base of the towers. There's also a sort of park with a huge fountain in the back. The mall was where we ran into one of the annoying aspects of much of Asia, the "public" toilets require payment to use. Elevator access up the towers was already closed for the day.
From there we walked across town to Menara Kuala Lumpur. Menara KL is a tower with a few shops and restaurants. From there we had a nice view of the city, though it was overcast and hazy. The tower was built in 1996 and stands 421 meters tall. It was built on a hill which gives it even more stature.
We also visited the Central Market, which is an indoor bazar. There were all kinds of shops there selling everything from food to arts and crafts. From there we took a train back to the airport. Next stop: India!
great pics!
